If you’re wondering what to do this weekend with the family, here’s your answer. We had a fabulous day recently at Montalto Winery in Red Hill. Invited for lunch for a friends birthday, hubby was playing cricket so I was a little hesitant about taking the kids to a winery by myself but I needn’t of worried as they had a ball and it was extremely child friendly.
The food was absolutely delicious, I shared tapas with the girls whilst the kids enjoyed a pizza from the pizzeria cafe. The prices were a little more on the pricey side but you really get what you pay for in the way of taste, presentation and service.
The dining space was relaxed and casual, we sat outside in the courtyard near the veggie garden as the weather was overcast yet warm. The kids thought this was great as they were able to stretch their legs, have a little wander around the table and a wander though the vegie garden which was extremely inspiring!
Fun, interactive (some, not all) sculptures line the vineyard, the kids loved running down the path and stopping at each one for a little look or, if they were allowed, a touch. The bottom of the hill was home to woodland like forest which opened up into a rose garden which the kids loved looking and exploring.
I always forget (and take for granted!) just how close we live to the beautiful wine region of the peninsula with Frankston just a short 25 min drive from Red Hill, straight down Peninsula Link.
Montalto really was a lovely Mornington Peninsula winery to take kids to. If you can, visit mid week as the weekends can get super busy with tourist wine tasting and restaurant bookings.
