MAMA LOVES – Jack N’ Jill Natural Teeth Care Range
We all know teeth brushing time can be a right pain in the A*$%! It’s just another chore the kids don’t want a bar of and will find every excuse under the sun to not have to do it.
Whether they are toddlers, pre schoolers or school kids, I’m sure we mama’s can all agree when they hear you call; “it’s time to brush you’re teeth!”, they never happily run into the bathroom and brush away merrily.
But in our house recently, things changed a little. We tried Australian natural oral care brand Jack N Jill. When we received the gorgeously packaged presents (all packaging eco-friendly might I add), the kids were intrigued. It actually made teeth brushing look like fun!
They were pretty much hooked when they learned there were a number of different flavoured organic toothpastes they could choose from and I was sold when I realised all the products were natural and safe to swallow. They actually have the highest safety rating possible, which is great because we all know until kids hit four or five they have absolutely no concept of how to rinse and spit, most just swallow the paste which apparently isn’t a safe thing to do with a lot of other toothpastes out there.
Jack N’ Jill is a natural toothpaste for babies, toddlers and children. It was first made in Melbourne in 1949 and it has been a family business developed by Melbourne couple (parents of course) Rachel and Justin Bernhaut for more than 20 years. It continues to be made in Australia and is now available in more than 30 countries.
Justin’s family were the original owners but he and Rachel have updated the formulation and re-branded. Justin says:
“A few years ago we had our first child and immediately joined many parents the world over who are concerned about current environmental issues and the direct effects they have on our children. We started to question everything he came into contact with, not wanting to expose him to unnecessary additives and chemicals. We felt frustrated about the lack of choice in early childhood oral hygiene. With a background in pharmacy, we set out to formulate the absolute safest toothpaste for our kids and yours. In the process, we also made it the most fun & yum!”
All Jack N’ Jill branding is designed to be appealing to children and is cute enough that parents won’t mind it sitting on their bathroom vanity. Alongside the toothpaste they have designed and manufactured the first children’s toothbrushes with handles that are made of NON GMO cornstarch, and are therefore biodegradable and recyclable.
They also make many more products such as a Buzzy Brush Electrical Musical Toothbrush, which the girls were pretty chuffed with, a silicon range for babies, gum brushes for children aged six months to five years, and baby gum and tooth wipes which are 100 per cent cotton wipes for newborns to one-year-olds.
The wipes are designed to clean the gums even before the teeth appear which can help kick start the plaque fighting from a very early age. They are plant based and remove germs from the gums without the need for any chemicals, fluoride or sugar.
They also make THE cutest hand sanitiser carrier and storage/ rinse cups and have gift packs available too!!
You can find Jack N’ Jill at selected pharmacies or order online at www.jackandjillkids.com.
We were pretty impressed with the range and we are looking forward to trying a few more of their toothpaste flavours. Now if we could just get the kids to stop chewing on the brushes while they brush!!!
