Since starting Mama loves to share we have been lucky enough to have had some exciting opportunities come our way, one of them being to join the pr and marketing agency Kids Business, Australia’s leading communications agency that connects blogging mums with leading consumer brands.
Once or twice a year, Kids Business hosts the Bloggers Brunch, a networking event where bloggers can meet the brands, chat and potentially work on collaborations together. We attended the Melbourne event last year and developed some great relationships so when we received an invitation to attend this years brunch in Sydney we jumped at the chance! Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to go interstate for a mini getaway with your best friend, escape running the household, changing nappies, cleaning up vomit and screaming at the kids to get ready for school! Even if it was only for two days, the thought of a change of scenery, being able to dress up, hang with other blogging mamas and listen to some inspiring business people was an offer too good to refuse! We were in like Flynn!
The event this year was held at the beautiful Centennial Homestead in the Centennial Parklands, not far from the SCG. We flew in, caught a taxi from the airport and arrived at the venue greeted by friendly, smiling, faces of brands ready to talk to us about their products. It was also great to catch up with some of our gal pal bloggers who we have formed fabulous friendships with since we started Mama loves to share 1.5 years ago, in particular Lisa from The Everyday Mums and Tegan from Bump into Mums.
The theme of the brunch was ‘Health, Home & Happiness’, so every brand in attendance fit that genre along with the guest speakers who were there to help us feel inspired and empowered.
There were some brands in attendance we already knew and loved such as Curash Baby Care, who we chatted to about their new range of baby nasal spray and healing cream as well as their wipes and nappy rash cream we have grown to love over the years, and Medela who are best known for their breast feeding products and support they offer to women on their feeding journeys.
The Australian Tax Office (ATO) were in attendance with special guest Kim Smith from Standing Strong. We was fascinated by her program which provides classes for girls aged about 8 – 17 to help them connect, be strong, feel empowered and feel supported in their lives. Having four daughters between us, we thought this was a brilliant concept. Her connection with the ATO was made via a grant she received to start the program a few years ago, Kim has even met Oprah who is a big fan of her work!
SEBO were there to introduce us to their amazing vacuum technology – even holding a “vacuum-off” at the end of the day where one lucky blogger won a $1000 vacuum to take home. Lowan’s showcased their new Disney themed, Toy Story Oat Sachets (Honey and Strawberry flavours – have since tasted and must say, very delish!) and Luv-A-Duck had part of our brunch covered with some tasty duck canapés.
Sakata and Sunbites were there too showcasing their yummy products, many of which we already have in our pantries and we got to try (well, actually devour!) some of their new flavoured Funbites and popcorn.
One brand we hadn’t heard of before attending the brunch Slendier who introduced us to their pasta, rice and noodle range which is actually made out of the Japanese vegetable, Konjac! It looked and taste like pasta but it’s designed to help people lose weight without leaving the hunger feeling or the calories. Special guest chef Yoshiko from The Biggest Loser was there preparing some Slendier dishes for us to try and we must say, super impressed!
One of the brands we really enjoyed meeting on the day, was Caruso’s Natural Health and we found it very inspiring to listen to their founder, Frank Caruso. Caruso have a huge range of nutritional and herbal products and a great new kids range which we look forward to reviewing and sharing with you next week so stay tuned!
The Blogger Brunch was a huge day so it was great to be able to switch off and chill around Sydney Harbour the next day with baby Hazel. We had a lazy breakfast, wandered around The Rocks Market and then made our way back to the airport in the early evening ready for our flight back to Melbourne.
Mama loves to share received a interstate travel allowance to attend the Bloggers Brunch but all opinions expressed in this article are 100% our own words and thoughts.
