When it comes to fashion, local Mornington Peninsula stylist, Kim Kennedy certainly knows what’s hot and what’s not. Not only is Kim a qualified personal stylist, she’s also a chiropractor extraordinaire working part time at a practice in Carrum and most importantly, a mum of three gorgeous boys.
Kim shops locally at some of our fave retailers, regularly frequenting Bayside, Main Street Mornington and lots of other little boutique shops on the Pen and, being a mum, Kim knows just what a woman wants when it comes to style, comfort and affordability.
Kim’s company, The Healthy Life Stylist, offers wardrobe audits, personal shopping days, wardrobe integration, complete make-overs including hair and make-up tutorials, group workshops, colour analysis’ and healthy eating advice.
“I was a slightly overweight child who was teased at primary school. In my early teens, I started playing sport and transformed myself into an elite athlete. People began treating me differently, but – more importantly – the way I felt about myself improved.
After having children I gained 30kg’s and went up three dress sizes. Although I was grateful for what my body was able to provide me in the way of three beautiful, healthy human beings, my physical transformation left me feeling depressed and lacking confidence. So I embarked on a journey of regaining my health and fitness. I joined a gym again and followed a weight loss eating plan and, eventually, I looked and felt like the me I wanted to be.
The next step was to clean out my wardrobe of the “cover-up” clothes I’d been living in and hit the shops to pick out styles that flattered my new shape and made me feel confident, sexy and attractive again. I will always believe that a person’s generosity is their most defining characteristic, however, there is no doubt that when we are looking great, eating well and exercising, our self respect and overall emotional state are healthiest.
I am not a trained psychologist, nutritionist or personal trainer, but I am a chiropractor who has had over fifteen years working in the health industry. This, coupled with my involvement with sport at an elite level, has given me a well-grounded knowledge of exercise, nutrition and the mind/body connection. Add to that my Personal Styling qualifications (which was driven by my love of fashion) and you have the complete skill set to be a Healthy Life Stylist!”
