If you’re a busy mama then chances are you don’t have a lot of time to book in at a hair salon to get rid of that regrowth and those split ends! And, if you’re anything like us, you also probably look in the mirror and know when you’ve neglected your hair for way too long but sometimes unfortunately there’s not much you can do aside pray that a little dry shampoo helps, cause when it comes to a couple of hours on your own, well… “ain’t nobody got time for dat!” – those roots are just going to have to get longer!
Before I had kids I used to head to the hairdresser every six to eight weeks without fail. Back then I had much longer hair (and thicker more luxurious hair too – thank you mummy hormones!!) and I’d be there for a good three hours for a cut, colour, head massage and blow wave. It was so relaxing, nothing and no one to worry about, just an afternoon of salon bliss.
Well those days are certainly over for me and I know I’m not alone as many of us mama’s don’t have the option of dropping our kids off somewhere while we duck to the hairdressers for a few hours midweek! But… hold up! There is now a solution for this on the Mornington Peninsula! Amazing Toys in Mornington are now doing hair for adults and kids!
When you think about Amazing Toys the first thing that comes to mind is they are a toy shop filled to the brim with a gorgeous array of toys. They are also known for their themed kids birthday party’s, such as a girl glam, superheroes, craft and disco parties. I’ve never even noticed “hairdressing” written on the sign!
They’ve been doing kid’s hair for the past four years but since February they have decided to do hair for adults too which we think is a fabulous idea! You get your hair done while the kids play in the playroom!! It’s basically the kids playing at a play centre while you get your hair done! Bliss! The playroom is right next door to the little mini salon so you can watch your kids play and they can see you if need be. There are heaps of toys to play with, a CD player and drawing. There’s also the option of watching a portable DVD player (Penny was pretty stoked to see they had Paw Patrol!).
Since my parents moved to the country and I’ve been working 3.5 days a week, poor Penny has been carted around to all sorts of appointments, doctors appointments, chiro, midwife but beauty appointments on the other hand have been put on the back burner on my days off work.
This hair appointment, however, was one she was more than happy to attend, in fact it was almost as if it was time set up just for her to play and my hair was secondary (well, little did she know it was the other way round!).
Hairdressers Tracey and Hayley manage the salon and they were both absolutely lovely to chat to and the best part is they both have two kids each, which means they know exactly how we feel! Tracey did a lovely job of my hair too and was patient when Penny had to go to the toilet half way through my colour being put on!
