There’s just something so magical about Christmas. Whether it’s the decorations hung in every corner of the house, shopping centre, street light or shop window, Santa’s face all over the TV or Christmas songs playing in the supermarket, there is always reminders that ignite the magic and keep our spirit soaring throughout December.
When we were kids (and sometimes even now!) the thought of Santa coming into our houses while we slept, dropping off presents, eating the cookies we put out for him while the reindeer, including Rudolph, waited patiently on the roof or front lawn, was the most exciting thing in the world!
Christmas traditions in our households included helping mum decorate the Christmas tree, visiting Santa at the shopping centre, driving around visiting the houses decorated in Christmas lights and watching Carols by Candlelight on the TV with the family on Christmas Eve. All of these things were so exciting that they are embedded in our memory and will always remain there.
We have continued these traditions in our homes with our own children and they have embraced the spirit of Christmas just like we did when we were kids. Like most children, our kids think Santa is the most amazing person on the planet! When they see him they are star struck and when they are being naughty, the threat of Santa not putting them on his nice list is terrifying. Works every time!
So, with the kids being at a divine age and their love of Santa being at an all time high, this year we have introduced a new Christmas tradition into our households, a video and call from Santa via Portable North Pole (PNP).
PNP is so easy to use, we were super excited to create personalised videos for the kids where Santa actually says their names, spoke to them directly and knew things about their lives such as the fact they go to kinder and school and and live in Australia.
PNP offers free clips, we purchased the MAGIC PASS for access to extra features ($12.99, click here to receive your 20% off discount) and were able to create a number of highly personalised videos for each of our kids plus a number of phone calls where Santa calls your mobile!
So easy to personalise, all you do is create an account, then choose which video you would like to make and enter personal details such as name, age and the gift your child is hoping for, and upload pictures. The end result is a richly visual, cinematic video where the iconic Santa Claus himself addresses your child, friends and family members directly from his fairy-tale home in the North Pole.
There’s also games on the mobile app including holiday games to play, like shaking ornaments off a tree, and having Santa’s elves repeat what you say back to you in their funny high-pitched voices. The video messages are delivered directly from Santa in just a few minutes on the web or with the free PNP mobile app.
It’s so beautiful watching their smiles light up the minute Santa greets them by name. With the magic pass there’s also a bonus birthday message you can create.
This year PNP have added heaps of new scenes, such as some bedtime Christmas stories, but our fave is the reaction recorder where you can use the mobile app (compatible iOS and Android devices) to capture your child’s expression as they watch their video from Santa for the first time. Once complete, the original PNP video will be embedded with the child’s reaction – so you can save and share that special moment with others and cherish it as a keepsake.
Oh and there’s also a video you can create for adults too where you can include the gift you plan to buy for them – I know Hubby loved getting his video which included a pic of his gift… ME!! I couldn’t stop laughing when he was watching it!
Another gorgeous feature of PNP is that they donate five percent of all online sales proceeds to more than 40 children’s hospitals around the world including Mater Little Miracles, Brisbane, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney and The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Melbourne.
The PNP video’s are definitely going to be a Christmas family tradition in our homes, we don’t care how old the children get, or how cool they think they are, we will always be a big kids at heart so as long as we are around, we are going to keep the magic of Christmas alive and that will always include a video or phone call from Santa via PNP.
