Be still my beating heart… I have a seven-year-old girl.
And she’s a special one at that (aren’t they all?!), my Bella. She’s girly, she’s sensitive, she’s emotional, she’s kind, she’s bossy, she’s a-know-it-all, she’s caring, she’s dramatic, she’s my most favourite first born child I know. She’s also had a different birthday party every year of her life. She’s had a play centre party, a farm party, a park party, a tea party, a home party, a restaurant party.
This year she begged for a “sleepover party” with four of her besties (insert scared emoji here!). For weeks she has been talking about where each of her friends could sleep; in her room, in her sister’s room, on the floor, one on the couch, she even suggested they could all sleep in my bed! Um… no.
Luckily for her though (and me, because I really didn’t want to give up my bed to a bunch of seven-year-olds!), I had already booked THE most ultimate sleep over ever (like seriously eeeeeek, I wanted to be seven again!) – a Teepee Slumber Party thanks to the lovely Debbie from Pamper Events. A mobile party business that comes to you, sets it all up, then packs it away? Yes please!
First of all, let me just say, Debbie is the most gentle, patient and hard-working woman! She arrived at our house hours before the party was set to begin and weaved her magic. All we had to do was clear the room and keep Bella away from the surprise until it was all set up. We later did the same thing for her besties when they arrived so they could all see the surprise together, which was easy done with a watermelon mocktail on arrival (my touch!).
Every little luxurious detail was accounted for; not just the stunning crushed velvet teepees. There were mattresses, soft blanky’s, comfy cushions…
Twinkling fairy lights, dream catchers, name tags for each teepee…
The girls even had tray tables, complete with battery candles, a rose, scattered petals… it was just divine.
Debbie even brought along vines to hang from the teepees after I told her Bella had been hoping for a jungle themed party!
She soon forgot the jungle theme, though, when she walked down the stairs and saw what had been created… the most “amazing birthday party ever, way better than just mattresses laid out like I was thinking!”, she said when she first laid eyes on it! It was a surprise moment I will never forget too.
Matching satin dressing gowns, heated neck wraps and eye masks for each of the girls were also provided, such a special touch made the girls feel so grown up.
I didn’t even have to think about props for a photo fun, Pamper Events already had it all sorted with frames, feather boas and cute cardboard cut outs provided!
I had also found a dream catcher colour-in poster for the girls as part of the night’s fun.
So, once we had played pass the parcel, danced, had fun at the photo booth, dressed up, sung some karaoke, coloured in, had dinner (homemade pizza’s they topped themselves), sung happy birthday, eaten some cake (ice-cream cake from Woolies was a hit!), it was time to get into their PJ’s, snuggle up in their own little beautiful teepee and wind down with a movie. It was bliss!
And to top it all off, just when I couldn’t wish to be seven again even more, you can imagine my proud teary mama moment when the girls voted to watch… wait for it… oh em gee… THE LITTLE MERMAID!! Yes, with no prompting from me (I swear!), they chose my all time favourite movie! This really was a night for me… I mean them… to remember.
Happy birthday Bella, I couldn’t have done anything this special for you by myself so thank you so much Deb and Pamper Events.
