We are so lucky to have access to such fantastic library facilities in the Frankston municipality.
If you haven’t visited your local library for sometime then I highly recommend you do! Frankston Library is right in the heart of the city, an easy two minutes walk from Bayside Shopping Centre.
Outside the walls are painted with amazing, eye capturing, Alice in Wonderland themed murals (it’s worth a visit just to see these!) and inside the children’s section, well, the whole library for that matter, is just as colourful and enticing.
Stella and I recently spent a lovely hour there in between appointments. It was the perfect little escape for the time we had. She wondered in and out of the books, pointing and exploring.
The children’s section is filled with both old and new picture books, novels and DVD’s. There is also magazines and games. A great little place for them to relax and engage their senses away from technology for once!
I personally love popping down in an afternoon when I have a couple of hours to myself to get some work done! There is just something about pulling up a chair in the “study” area, it’s so peaceful and motivating to sit, uninterrupted, typing away on my laptop (free WiFi); I always leave feeling so productive and relaxed.
An added bonus is the little cafe located at the entrance selling light snacks and of course, coffee! I also love the piano that is set up outside among the deck chairs and umbrellas which is basically a free for all piano where anyone can go and have a little tinker…chopsticks was as far as we got! This piano was made possible thanks to many passionate Frankston guru’s such as businessman and barista Yvens de Camargo.
Frankston Library also runs a weekly story time for tiny tots and preschoolers, if you haven’t been before I highly recommend! It’s held in a relaxed, interactive learning environment and the story tellers are always so warm and lovely. Don’t worry if your child doesn’t sit still for very long! Most kids get a little fidgety but the story tellers are ever so engaging, capturing their little imaginations in no time!
Tiny Tots 0-2 years
Preschool 3-5 years
(Please note: not 1st Tuesday of the month)
For the bigger kids there is Lego club and homework club which are fantastic services for those that need an extra hand. The best thing is both of these services, just like story time, are free with lots of volunteers on hand to assist.
We are so lucky to be able to access such a wonderful free facility right here on the Peninsula. The perfect place to curl up with the kids and a book on a rainy afternoon or perhaps for you to escape the hustle and bustle of home when you need to get some work done! When was the last time you read a book?
